Forge Health VA
Specialized Clinical Care for First Responders
Confidential and Evidence-Based Treatment to Support Mental Wellness and Resilience
The Foundation for First Responder Wellness and Resiliency, through its FORWARD Centers, is dedicated to connecting first responders to comprehensive and specialized clinical care. The clinical services provided by Forge Health VA are specifically tailored to address the unique mental health challenges faced by these individuals who regularly encounter trauma and work-related stressors.
Forge will provide access to confidential and evidence-based treatment options, ranging from individual therapy to group counseling sessions. Forge will provide a safe and supportive environment where first responders can openly discuss their concerns, process their experiences, and develop effective coping strategies.
Groundbreaking Clinical Results
In 2022 Forge Health partnered with a major national payor to conduct a research study examining the effects of Forge’s approach to care.
The study compared the health and behavior of 70 patients over the 12 months prior to engaging with Forge Health to their health and behavior in the 12 months following.
Outcomes of this research were groundbreaking: a full year after completing treatment, Forge patients both achieved and
maintained significant improvement in overall health, while also taking better care of themselves by seeing their primary care doctors more frequently.
These outcomes strongly suggests that Forge Health’s approach is an effective way to improve quality of life and overall wellbeing for individuals under care, while also reducing costs for patients and insurers.
Most studies that examine the effects of treatment on patients are conducted by the treatment providers themselves. This study is significant not only because of its results, but because it was performed in partnership with a leading national insurer.
Family Resilience Programs
Families Serve Together
- When we serve our communities, our families serve with us. They are there through every step of our commitment and struggle.
- They go through stress, hardships and trauma and, like many public safety professionals, they need support too.
- Forge VFR is in-network with all major insurance companies, as well as Medicare. If the family member does not have benefits or insurance, Forge VFR has scholarship options.

Appointments, Insurance Acceptance, and Accessible Options for Affordable and Convenient Care
The Foundation for First Responder Wellness and Resiliency is committed to ensuring ease of access to its services in the FORWARD Center. To facilitate convenience, appointments will be available during regular business hours, with future expansion to evening appointments to accommodate shift work. Walk-ins will be accepted on an emergency basis, when clinicians are available, allowing first responders to seek immediate help when they need it most. Information will be accessible on our website, connecting individuals with a dedicated scheduler for the clinical care group. Telemedicine appointments will be made available by Forge BEFORE the FORWARD Center opens its doors.
To make clinical care affordable and accessible to all, Forge Health VA will accept all insurance carriers, ensuring that individuals can receive treatment regardless of their coverage. Additionally, the foundation will utilize donations to help alleviate financial burdens by covering or subsidizing insurance co-pays, where needed.
